Sound Therapy

A sound is a vibration, and vibrations permeate our bodies and senses. Sound vibrations affect each of us differently.

A soulful ballad may put you in a romantic mood, while some rock music may put you in the mood to dance and party.

Yet for someone else, the ballad may be a turn-off and the same rock music leaves another uncomfortable.

Regardless of our differences, sound affects everyone. Even a deaf person can feel the sound vibrations by touching, for example, a drum as it’s beaten or a brass horn being played. It’s the vibration, its density, frequency and rate of speed that affects you.

All types of sound therapy use sound vibrations to heal and soothe. Additionally, sound can also take you to deeper levels of consciousness.

Mantras are an excellent example of sound vibrations that take you to a deep level of meditative consciousness and can be a form of sound therapy.

Sound therapy may be listening to soothing sounds or feeling the vibration directly on sore muscles. It may be the spoken word, relaxing music, or sounds from nature.
