Refer to this book before you make your next presentation. September 20, 2009 Eric Wentworth (San Francisco, CA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Like many of the other reviewers of this book I have read (and taken classes) in how to present effectively. My bookshelf includes three other books about presenting. But this concise book of 70 presentation tips resonated with me more than any other.
William Steele has done a masterful job of providing a condensed reminder list of key ingredients in an effective presentation. I would highly recommend reading this book (it's very accessible) before any major presentation. I am producing a large event with more than three dozen speakers and have provided Steele's tips to them all to help improve their presentations.
Any book that can potentially change your life is a good book to own. Making great presentations is important to success in business---and life. Being a good presenter can dramatically affect your career success. Presenting 201 can help you become a much better presenter.
Presentation Skills 201 Captures a Large Audience February 24, 2009 Lynne Breil 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
William Steele offers an easily formatted and surprisingly comprehensible look at the next level of presentation skills. Business level presenters will learn more on how to handle challenging audiences and add energy to their presentations. Bill addresses those issues and gives the reader surprising new anecdotes for more extraordinary presentations. This book is appropriate in academic and international settings.
Excellent advice for career presenters May 31, 2009 Richard A. Bifano 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Presentation Skills 201 is a "must have" for all professionals who's careers depends on being able to stand out in a crowd as an Engaging and Persuasive presenter. An excellent tool for all speakers.
Be the Presenter You've Always Wanted to Be August 12, 2009 Elaine Shimberg (Tampa, FL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Although there are hundreds of books on basic public speaking, Steele truly demonstrates "How to Take It to the Next Level as a Confident, Engaging Presenter." He stresses the importance of planning, so you can "just talk" to your audience. Among his more than 70 tips are how to use props, gestures, and humor properly; respect your people's time; how to discover and retire your favorite word or phrase; and explain acronyms.
There is much more, especially for the experienced presenter who thinks he/she knows it all. You'll find a wealth of information that will make you even a better presenter. Read this and put it in your library, but not on too high a shelf because you'll refer to it often.
Excellent Tips for Novice and Experienced Presenters August 16, 2009 P. Klein (Salt Lake City, UT) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bill Steele's "Presentation Skills 201" is an easy to read book filled with personal stories, antidotes and excellent speaking tips for both the experienced and novice presenter. I plan to keep it handy to read as a refresher. And, I will recommend it with ENTHUSIASM to participants in my Presentation Skills Training. Thanks Bill for this great resource!
